WEPA - Water Environment Partnership in Asia

WEPA, in cooperation with 13 countries in Asia, aims to promote good governance in water environment management by providing necessary, relevant information and knowledge, through a series of databases. Information collected through WEPA activities is shared by the WEPA Database, which consists of 4 individual databases, namely Policies, Technologies, NGOs’ and CBOs’ activities and Sources of water-related information.

EU Water Framework Directive
The Water Framework Directive is the most substantial piece of water legislation to date. It requires all inland and coastal waters to reach "good status" by 2015. It will do this by establishing a river basin district structure within which demanding environmental objectives will be set, including ecological targets for surface waters.

UK TAG - Technical Advisory Group on the Water Framework Directive
UKTAG is a partnership of the UK environment and conservation agencies which was set up by the UK-wide WFD policy group consisting of UK government administrations. It was created to provide coordinated advice on the the science and technical aspects of the European Union's Water Framework Directive (2000/60/EC). This Directive sets an enormous challenge in meeting the objectives of the improvement and the protection of the water environment and is the major driver for the sustainable management of water in the UK.

The Right to Water

IWMI - International Water Management Institute - Policy Briefing Notes
The Water Policy Briefing series presents new perspectives and solutions to water problems in developing countries. Each briefing is based on peer-reviewed research that challenges policy makers and planners to think differently about the way water is managed for agriculture. The series has grown out of research conducted by the IWMI-TATA Water Policy Program in India, which recommends solutions to India's water crisis. It is now being expanded to provide policy recommendations from the research of the International Water Management Institute and its partners.
